It is the first high-level meeting between the Trump Administration and the incoming leader amid heightened tensions between the two neighbors.

Pompeo’s delegation included Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Senior Adviser Jared Kushner. The talks covered a broad range of issues, including NAFTA negotiations, the opioid crisis, border security and immigration and trade negotiations.

Informa reports, the U.S. acquired a $63 billion trade deficit in goods with Mexico last year.
