Growing Rural Small Businesses

NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) While economic uncertainty continues to plague farmers, rural lawmakers look to provide relief to rural communities through other means – by helping small businesses grow.

Despite the fact that America’s rural counties tend to have the highest rates of self-employed business owners in the nation, more than 75% of venture capital funding flows to just three cities: New York, San Francisco, and Boston. Lawmakers will continue looking for ways to divert some of that investment to America’s Heartland.

Witnesses also asked House lawmakers to support provisions in the Senate version of the Farm Bill that would support rural businesses and applauded supportive measures in the recent tax legislation.
