NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Both Chambers of Congress sideline an effort to curb subsidies in the 2018 Farm Bill. Politico reports the Food Stamp Program and a failing farm economy dominated debates in the House and Senate. House lawmakers defeated a floor vote to overhaul the Complex Sugar Program and Senators shut down proposals to limit farm subsidies. But one proposal passed: Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley included a provision in the Senate’s version, limiting farms to one principal operator eligible for commodity subsidies each year.
